We've moved!
New VSA Headquarters in South Surrey
As of September 22, 2008, the VSA head office has moved to what is certain to become a strategically important address in years to come, in a modern office complex near the intersection of Highway 10 and 152nd Street in South Surrey.
Since its inception in 2004, the independent regulatory authority has been based across from Burnaby City Hall, near the Canada Way exit from the 401 freeway. As this lease approached expiry, VSA was advised to expect a significant rent increase for space that had become inadequate for current and projected future needs, and at a location increasingly inconvenient for the majority of staff and industry visitors.
Here's where we are now, with updated contact information:

More Level II Salesperson Courses scheduled
The pilot project for the Level II Salesperson Certification Course continues this fall and winter with classes scheduled for Victoria (Oct. 16-17), Kelowna (Nov. 20-21), Burnaby (Dec. 15-16) and Prince George (Jan. 22-23).
These advanced courses, designed for experienced professionals to update them on legislation and regulatory changes since 2004, are conducted as workshops with an interchange among participants, who contribute as much as the instructors. They have been extremely well-received so far and the experience continues to help evolve the curriculum.
There is a significant discount on fees for those who participate in the pilot project over what will be paid once the program becomes mandatory in 2009. It will soon be required for all who have not completed the basic certification course since the formation of the VSA (formerly Motor Dealer Council) in 2004.
Other sessions will be scheduled if needed. The discounted price for a two-day pilot session is $210. Register by calling Cathy at 604-574-5050 ext. 230. If you have questions, please call Doug at 604-575-6171.
Free ICBC vehicle search service
ICBC has announced a new free service for consumers, a good place to start when considering any used vehicle. Simply type in the Vehicle Information Number (VIN) at the appropriate place on the ICBC web site and quickly find out if the vehicle is registered as normal, rebuilt, salvage or altered. It will also show whether the vehicle was imported into B.C.
This is not as comprehensive as the $20 vehicle search report ICBC still provides (complete, detailed B.C. history) or the more comprehensive North America search provided by firms such as CarProof (recommended by both ICBC and VSA for vehicles that might have a history elsewhere), but a valuable and free first step. Visit www.icbc.com for details and even a sample report.
