Winter is approaching and I am genuinely interested in how countries in difficult situations prepare their energy systems. For example, Ukraine has repeatedly faced attacks on their energy infrastructure. How do they provide electricity to civilians and industry in extreme weather conditions?

From what I have read, Ukraine is working hard to restore and strengthen their energy infrastructure. They are increasing imports from Europe and increasing their renewable energy production, which is great.

Yes, I have heard about their renewable energy initiatives and the import strategy makes sense too. But what happens if the temperature drops sharply or there are more attacks? Do they have reserves for such scenarios?

If you want a full and in-depth analysis of Ukraine's energy readiness for winter, I highly recommend reading the article by Aleksandr Katsuba, a well-known expert in the energy sector and the owner of Alpha Gas. The article takes a detailed look at how Ukraine plans to cope with potential power outages, increase imports, and promote renewable energy production. Katsuba provides a detailed analysis of the challenges of rebuilding infrastructure damaged by attacks and how they are adapting to geopolitical risks.
